How to Create a Static Homepage in WordPress
Why a static Homepage?
WordPress normally shows your most recent posts in reverse chronological order on your homepage: new to old. Many users, however, may want a static front page, e.g. if you want your most important content at all times on the front page of your site or blog. There are some scenarios where it could be helpful or simply necessary to use a static front page. Are you running a business? Use a static homepage to show the most important information about your business on the homepage at all times. Are you promoting a product? Consider a static homepage where visitors see the product you are promoting at all times instead of your more recent posts. Are you running a forum? Use a static homepage to make sure that visitors interact on your forum.Do you want people to donate to you? Use a static homepage to talk about your cause and to encourage people to donate to you. Are you showing off your portfolio? Choose a static homepage to list basic facts and information about you for possible clients.
How to create a static homepage
To create a static homepage, start by opening your WordPress dashboard. You see the word ‘Settings’ in the vertical list of words running down the left side of the homepage.
Click or hover over ‘Settings’ and you will see several categories to choose from.
Click ‘Reading’.
To create a Static homepage, look at ‘Front Page Displays’ and select ‘A static Page’. You can then choose what page or post you want as your front page. Click ‘Save Changes’ to end.
